Hello once more and a happy 2013 to all. I hope the Christmas and New Year’s break was good to you all and your 2013 turns out to be a great year.
Sadly the year has started off on a very sad note; We tragically lost Trydin Te Aonui, a new member of our playing group and brother to Nathan, one of our 2012 Premiership Under 18s, on New Year’s day. The thoughts, prayers and condolences of everyone involved at North’s go out to the Te Aonui family and all of their friends at this tough time.
Onto the football side of things, it’s been a hectic start to the New Year trying to get everything in place for Season 2013. We are in the process of finalising our 2013 trial dates and should be able to announce them in the next week or so (our tentative dates are 23/02, 02/03 & 23/03 but are subject to change).
The boys started back training on the 8th of January and we’ve just completed the second week of training. Numbers have been growing steadily and the quality of players and effort has been very encouraging. If we keep building momentum then we will give ourselves every chance of making “2013 the Year of the Tiger”.
We have a few events in the pipework at the moment, the first of which is our traditional “Day before Australia Day games”.

Friday the 25th January at Norths Leagues Club.
From 5pm – Come down after work for a few drinks and some great fun.
We will have beach cricket, thong throwing, gumboot throwing and of course CANETOAD RACING.
There will be meat on the spit available as well as the usual meals upstairs in the leagues club.

The 2013 IRL season looks to be kicking off on the weekend of the 6-7th of April.
The first round will be a celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Oval and have all 3 A grade games at the reserve.
Our final return to Norths will hopefully be on the weekend of the 13-14th of April.
More details will follow when the draw is finalised.
Our first major fundraiser of the year is now under way.
