Team Lists: IRL Round Two 2015 v Goodna

The second round of the IRL season gets underway this Sunday with Norths facing Goodna at home. It will be the first match of the season for our Reserve Grade and Under 19 sides, while A-Grade will look to continue their promising start to the season after last Saturday’s 26-16 win over Brothers.

The Tigers started strongly last week running in early tries as Brothers looked powerless to stop them. However the last ten minute period of the Tigers first half wouldn’t have pleased coach Mick Newton as Brothers clawed their way back into the contest with some points of their own.

Norths started the second half strongly once more with points however Brothers kept coming back within 10 points of victory. But the Tigers proved too good in the end, finishing 26-16 victors.

Matty Fairhurst crossed for two tries and halves Steven West and Brendon Marshall combined brilliantly.

And any doubts the “right side, strong side” would miss their spiritual leader Josh Roberts and elusive hole running second rower Stephen Kafer were put to rest, with the combination of Tonga Mounga and Anava Fesolai looking to be as strong, if not stronger, in 2015.

This week sees the return of Chris Scanlan, with Damo Peters being relegated to the bench after an impressive debut in A-Grade. After Steven West led the Tigers last weekend for a 1-0 record, Chris Scanlan will captain the Tigers in the absence of injured club captain Josh Roberts.

Get down to Norths this Sunday and cheer on all our players against Goodna. Under 19s kick-off at 12pm, Reserve Grade 1.30pm and A-Grade 3pm.

A lackluster interchange forward who was part of the victorious Norths Tigers 2014 IRL A-Grade premiership team. Illustrious achievements include "Most Versatile Player Award" in Under 18s and was once named "player's player".
