IRL Round Seventeen 2016 Team Lists

A-Grade are still in the hunt for a finals birth after last weekend’s 32-16 win over West End. Norths have named an unchanged line-up for Sunday’s must-win clash against Fassifern.

Currently tied with Swifts on 28 points, we need a win over the third placed Bombers (32 points), and hope that minor premiers Goodna beat Swifts.

The Tigers should go into the match confident after beating Fassifern 36-18 last time the two sides met, almost a month ago. That was in front of a vocal Norths home crowd in the final home game of the season – an atmosphere that certainly won’t be as accommodating out at Hayes Oval on Sunday.

Should both Norths and Swifts share the same result, Swifts would most likely progress given their for and against differential is 42 points better than Norths (Swifts currently -96, and Norths -138).

In Reserve Grade, Norths beat West End 22-20 last weekend to remain in the finals hunt. We’re tied with Swifts on 27 points, and can move into the top four this weekend with a win over last placed Fassifern, if Swifts are beaten by the third-placed Eastern Cobras.

In the U19 Colts competition, Norths have a slim chance of finishing minor premiers. It would require first placed Brothers (37 points) to lose to last-placed Valleys Dragons, and for Norths (2nd on 35 points) to beat Goodna. In this case both Brothers and Norths would finish on 38 points, however Norths have a far superior for and against differential. The Tiger cubs won’t finish any lower than second though, regardless of this weekend’s results.

A lackluster interchange forward who was part of the victorious Norths Tigers 2014 IRL A-Grade premiership team. Illustrious achievements include "Most Versatile Player Award" in Under 18s and was once named "player's player".
