IRL Round One 2016 Team Lists

Season 2016 is finally here, and once again our mighty Norths Tigers will take on Brothers in the grand final rematch at the North Ipswich Reserve.

The Tigers beat Brothers Ipswich 24-22 in last year’s decider, winning their second consecutive Grand Final.

The Tigers head into 2016 with a new A-Grade coach, with the return of Anthony “Nobby” O’Brien, who coached the Tigers in 2006 when they made the Grand Final.

The Tigers will have to defend their crown without the services of elusive hole running second rower Steve Kafer and dynamic dummy-half Chris Porter. Kafer has finally (allegedly) hung up the boots once again, while Porter is “taking a year off.”

The team taking on Brothers tomorrow night has eight changes to the Grand Final team and features new faces in Ricky O’Donnell, Lui Afele and Andrew Tully, while some young Tigers like Dylan Martin, Mitchell Raine and Dion Willett will get their chance  to impress in A-Grade.

Before you head to the North Ipswich Reserve for 7pm kick-off why not head to the Norths Leagues Club before the game for a few pre-drinks. You’ll find our major sponsor, Brad Deas from Bluedog Training, down there enjoying a few birthday drinks before the game.

After the game the downstairs bar at the Leagues Club will be open for all to enjoy a beer with the players.

PS – I will update the team lists photo at some stage this year. But since I’m in the current one I might just keep it a few more weeks yet…. see you at a game soon!

A lackluster interchange forward who was part of the victorious Norths Tigers 2014 IRL A-Grade premiership team. Illustrious achievements include "Most Versatile Player Award" in Under 18s and was once named "player's player".
